Servo Motor High and Low Inertia

Low inertia
Low inertia comes with the motor to do more flat long. The Spindle has small inertia. When the motor to do high-frequency repetitive motion, its inertia is small, so the heat level of the machine is also low. Therefore the low inertia motor is suitable for high frequency reciprocating motion. But the general torque is relatively small.
High Inertia
High inertia servo motors are thicker and have a large torque, which is suitable for large torque but not very fast reciprocating motion occasions. From the high-speed movement to stop, the driver has to generate a large reverse drive voltage to stop the large inertia, the heat will be very large.
Inertia refers to a measure of the inertia of the rigid body rotating around the axis. Rotational inertia is a physical quantity that indicates the size of the rotational inertia of the rigid body. It is related to the mass of the rigid body, the distribution of mass relative to the rotation axis.
Rigid body refers to the ideal state of the object that will not have any change.
Motor inertia is an important index for servo motor selection. It refers to the inertia of the servo motor rotor itself, which is quite important for the acceleration and deceleration of the motor. If the inertia is not well matched, the motor's action will be very unstable.
